The race of Tall Ships «Ιστορικές Θάλασσες» will take place between May and early June 2010 in Volos.
The city of Volos was chosen by the organizers of the race: Sail Training International As the starting city. More specifically, the first race starts from Volos on 12 May, starting area south of the island of Skiathos, about 30 miles from Volos.
The hosting of the race for Tall Ships "Historical Seas" will be combined with a number of sporting and cultural events, and with reference to an ambitious program for a copy of the ancient Argo, built by the descriptions and illustrations of the ancient original. This modern vessel is expected to revive in the future, ancient voyage of the Argonauts, with crew apopleontas young volunteers through the Dardanelles and the coast of Asia Minor, Black Sea, the same approach to be followed and the fleet of large sailing ships involved in the Race .
Volos expects to welcome the new trainees, crews, ships and international visitors in three days "Argonaut" feast before us sail in search of their own "Golden Fleece".
The Race of the Tall Ships «Historical Seas" will take place between May and early June 2010, ending time for the participating vessels to transit the Mediterranean and returned to Northern Europe to take part in the 'Games of the Tall Ships »(The Tall Ships' Races).
The first part of the race for Tall Ships «Historical Seas" will follow the path, which according to legend, Jason followed and the Argonauts in search of the Golden Fleece from Volos, Greece (9-12 May) through the Dardanelles the Black Sea. The next port of call (or call) will be Varna, Bulgaria (21-24 May), where the departure will coincide with National Day of Bulgaria (May 24). From there, the fleet struggled to Istanbul in Turkey (27-30 May), where the race will be the focus of the celebrations of the city as European Capital of Culture for 2010. From there the fleet will make the cruise itinerary and will fight until the Laurion in Greece (4-7 June) on the outskirts of Athens and close to a host of other historical and cultural sites in Attica.
