On Sunday morning, the ARGO resumed its journey from St Sunday thanks to the successful efforts of the rowers, the governor, the rank and crew won loss the previous day and came to Atalanta in the evening, covering a total 40 miles away.

Tuesday, June 17, 2008

Enthusiastically welcomed by the people, the Prefectural Authority of Evia and the Municipal Authority Chalkis the Argo, the rowers and the governor.
The Argo in the third route of its journey from Atalanta in Chalcis covered a distance of 30 nautical miles in two different situations of difficulty and intensity. Midday last Monday the crew was exposed to the first heat with apnea, so rowing to become a major test for all. Late the same afternoon, and while the ship was close to five miles to its destination, a flurry of adverse wind borne by the travel time for four additional hours in order to end in Chalkis be finished at 11pm.
The final section of the route along the coast, in the channel before Euripus, large concentrations of people in the streets, the docks, on balconies and shops on the beach cheered modern Argonauts.
Tuesday was the first day of rest for the crew from the start of the journey and having already completed the first 90 miles, but never any loss of time.
The Prefecture of Evia and the Municipality of Chalkis, organized a special event and dexiothikan all members of the mission.

Wednesday, June 18, 2008

By leaving the Argos for the next scheduled destination due to severe damage to the mechanism that opens the bridge in the Strait of Chalcis trip of the day eventually fell through, as it is now possible to pass any ship.

Thursday, June 19, 2008

Undoubtedly a rare and exceptional event recorded for the local time of Chalcis way past the "Argo" from Bridge Evripou blocked because a boat practically not fit under the closed bridge, finally passed.
Effyologontas with a small dose of bitterness and shame the Chalkida stated that the city was able to create artificial "Simpligades" for the modern Argo, which were able to overcome even with a very unorthodox way.
As soon as he appeared yesterday morning in the master problem and the rank of the Argo, after specific measurements and calculations, designed and tested by the crew, a series of extreme, but not bad procedures, applied to 10 am only secured the right conditions and infrastructure.
First, using the crane removed the mast of the boat. Without the mast height of the ship reached the 4.30 m and should be able to pass under a bridge 3.70 m ARGO ermatisthike with thalassonero and her crew placed the boat in order to acquire more draft aft of and a strong inclination of 30 degrees to the left. With very careful handling the recumbent and sitting deep sea boat passed scratch beneath the metal arches of the Bridge without even a scratch. The crew of the Argo came from the north side of the bridge full of suspense and anxiety on the other hand came out thrilled by his good fortune and under crowd applause that followed impressed on both sides of the Strait of Evripou.
Following the successful outcome of the entire effort of the ship captain Apostolos Kourtis said:
"This time the Argo made the most difficult mile, because if something astochouse would remain locked and the mercy of the current may follow in a while.

Friday, June 20, 2008

At five o'clock in the morning I started the journey of the Argo after three days 'trapping' in Chalcis, to move forward as possible to the planned route, if weather conditions permit.
Not very favorable wind the ARGO noon overtook Apostles coast of Attica, having already traveled 25 miles. From that point, and within minutes the ship was confronted with the opposite strong wind more than 6 Beaufort, making it impossible to access from the south to the Gulf Evian pedaling but also risks being cast ashore on the coast of Attica. After several tests the governor and the rank of the boat to protect the ship from damage and the crew from accidents, reversed course and finally anchored in Eretria, as the safest haven port of Argos in the region.
Note that despite the unplanned and informal call the Argo in Eretria, the crew enjoyed a very spontaneous and warm welcome from residents of the city and stayed for several hours on the beach.
Also, before leaving the accompanying ship boarded by Chalcis and physician to meet the needs of primary care assistance that may arise in its mission.

Saturday June 21, 2008

At 3:30 in the morning, the crew of the Argos prepared for the difficult journey that day. 5.30 even before dawn boat solve ropes from Eretria to the furthest destination could be reached within the same day, at least in marble or even at Sounion.
Long before noon, only with oars and a relatively quiet sea, the Argo was leaving the southern Evian and met with northeast winds provided the weather forecast for that day. Only the wind was very strong and more rapid (31 -35 knots wind speed) than expected.
Travelling on a protected, near and parallel to the coast of southern Euboea, Argo began to have had much higher levels than had previously been tested. The crew also did not feel anxiety or fatigue. Eventually the left wheel of the boat was just "felt" the power of the sea, breaking in the middle somewhere off the coast of Marathon. After that prudence imposed as a destination marble.
The second took the helm of the ship "overtime" and the first feeling of relaxation of tension of the journey came when he entered the Argo Bay Marmari. Only the oars now and very strong contrary winds the crew brought the boat into the harbor, where he anchored end at 4 pm Saturday.
The rest of this very intense and busy travel day was a memorable and host of "modern Argonauts" by the Municipality of Marmari an exchange of commemorative gifts, official dinner and merciful sleep in hotels in town. Under the same weather conditions accompanying PIGASSOS ship failed to dock at Marmari and had to resort to Lavrion.

Sunday, June 22, 2008

Very strong winds blowing in the region of Central Greece, "freeze" for a second day of the Argo in the harbor of marble, which docked Saturday afternoon, but the accompanying ship PIGASSOS Lavrion. The bad weather, resulting in a prohibitive statement sailing ships, was an opportunity to give some time to rest on its mission, something we all want.
In the afternoon, the captain, the rank and crew members of the Argo went from Lavrion, where she anchored the accompanying vessel Pegasus Marmari, to replace the wheel of the ship, which had snapped in half Saturday en route from for Marmari Eretria, due to very strong pressures from the winds and the storm that prevailed that day.

Monday, June 23, 2008

With good wind in the sails of the Argo began very early in the morning to marble, which remained from Saturday afternoon due to heavy weather.

Tuesday, June 24, 2008

Sounion, near the Temple of Poseidon, docked the Argo, which continues the planned experimental journey. Strong winds, which pulled a few days a trip to Argos, lull yesterday, lifted the boat sail and we head about 25 miles, arrived at 3 pm at Sounion.
At the entrance to the Gulf of Sounion, however, a local winds hindered the attempt to port and ship only managed to get paddles and "tie" in the bay area near the hotel "Aegean." In addition, strong winds blowing at that moment in the region, led the mast could not sustain the power of air and suffering, fortunately, little damage to the top. The damage that the mast does not cause problems axioplooias and so decided to restore it to be in Athens.

Wednesday, June 25, 2008

This morning, the weather conditions and the Argo started normally trip from Cape Sounion, bound for the largest port, Piraeus, where the City is preparing a warm welcome with a major event.

Thursday, June 26, 2008

Approximately 6 miles after Sounion, near Anavissos the wind has increased significantly, reaching up to 6-7 Beaufort. Despite the persistent efforts of the governor and the rowers were unable to move the ship, as opposed winds and turned back.
For the safety of the crew, but the board decided with great effort at 12.30 reached the Argo to dock in a sheltered point in an islet opposite Anavissos. There he remained until late in the evening until the winds abate a little and then docked at Anavissos.

Friday, June 27, 2008

The crew of the Argos started the morning by Anavissos with almost the same bad weather in order to travel as many miles as possible and closer to Piraeus.
However, the weather was still and the ship remained moored for several hours in a sheltered spot near the Anavissos where they left off in the afternoon when moderating the wind. In difficult times, "modern Argonauts, beyond the limits of endurance continued rowing until Vouliagmeni, where the ship docked finished shortly after midnight.

Saturday, June 28, 2008

ARGO solved ropes around 10.30 yesterday morning from the Vouliagmeni Marina, where it was docked too late Friday, spent the last few miles of this piece of the planned route and arrived at Piraeus.
After two days of difficult travel and long suffering crew, due to very strong winds blowing, the Argo docked noon largest port in the country. This fact has caused excitement and relief throughout the mission, and after several days, the trip inhibited by adverse weather conditions, local currents and exogenous problems, the boat approached the first major experimental station of the journey.

Tuesday, July 1, 2008

ARGO after the departure of the morning from the port of Piraeus, having traveled eight miles in difficult times, is strong contrary wind, "blended" in the early afternoon at the Port of Salamis. Despite the effort and the strength of the rowers against wind tested the stamina of the crew and made it prohibitive to continue his journey after noon. The ship finally was called at the port of Salamis, where he anchored.

Wednesday, July 2, 2008

ARGO began the journey from Salamis to 4.30 in the morning and we head about 32 miles, not particularly favorable weather throughout the journey, after rowing 15 hours arrived at 7.30 pm at the Port of Corinth. At 4.10 pm, the ship entered the canal, followed by a boat harbor and only paddle smoothly traveled the 3.5 miles of the Isthmus, and went to Corinth.
Grand and impressive with the ARGO the fifty rowers to the rise in the experimental voyage spent the early afternoon the Isthmus of Corinth. The image reconstructed prehistoric ship Isthmus, excited and moved by those who were at that moment or on bridges or in shops on both sides of the Isthmus, who applauded and cheered the "modern Argonauts.
Fulfilling the Argos crew was strong for both the successful passage of the ship canal, and the patterns that exist there hinder the movement of the ship, but the approach of the Port of Corinth, the first experimental station of the trip after Port of Piraeus.
While the Argo was scheduled to "dock" at the Port of Corinth, the ship's crew, the captain and the entire mission was warmly welcomed by the Prefecture of Corinth and residents of the area in a simple but very hot event host.
Please note that the docking of Argos was in Corinth, Loutraki and not as originally planned, and the port of Loutraki started to run projects that may endanger the safety of the ship.
It is worth mentioning also that, as impressive with the passage of the Argo from the Isthmus, was that of an accompanying ship Pegasus, since the size passed a few centimeters from the walls of the canal.
